Grain Drying There are a number of benefits to drying grain, most of these benefits stem from being able to harvest earlier, these include:Early harvest - leading to higher prices before the majority of grain hits the market. Better Quality and Quantity of harvest - as soon as the grain is physically mature the quality is at its peak, although the moisture will be too high for bulk storage. As soon as the grain is dry enough to reap we can harvest and maintain maximum quality then reduce the moisture using an agridry grain dryer. Reduce losses - to feral animal and adverse weather conditions. A dryer will allow you to get more productivity out of you header by increasing the number of hours a day you can harvest, also reducing the amount of time to get your harvest completed. This increased productivity of your old header may also reduce the need for the larger capital expenditure of upgrading your header. In Short, a dryer will give you more control of your harvest, if you are considering introducing a dryer into your harvest management plan please take the time to read some of our Grain Drying Q&A booklet, or give us a call and we can send one out to you. Also available is the GRDC Factsheet on Dealing with High Moisture Grain. |
